Jose Manuel Perez Asturias, one of the most recognized Honduran painters and better known as “Pito Perez”, was born in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. The talented Pito showed a passion and a skill for drawing from an early age; according to his mother, his drawings were all over the house. Due to the lack of art schools during that time, Pito Perez attended accounting and management schools. Most of his inspiration comes from his collection of art books and travels to different parts of the world.
Through the difficult watercolor technique, Pito Perez is currently considered one of the most representative artists of the country. He has managed to integrate color, shape and composition to bring the beauty of Honduras to its best.
His works of art are part of private and public collections, and have been exhibited in the USA, France and other countries. Pito Perez has also illustrated books of Honduran writers.
The recognitions he has received include those given by the Rotary Club International (1991); Academie Internationale de Lutece - Paris, France (1994); Cámara de Comercio de San Pedro Sula (1997); Corporación Municipal de San Pedro Sula (2003); and Centro Cultural Sampedrano (2006).

"The best sleep I’ve had with open doors looking at the mountains of Copan Ruinas.
I just went for one night and ended up staying one more…. I did not want to leave. The hotel service was awesome! My thumbs up for La Casa Rosada!" |
